Director/screenwriter Orson Welles with actors Peter Bogdanovich and John Huston on the set of “The Other Side of the Wind” in the early 1970s. Welles’s uncompleted last film is in the spotlight for an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign to complete the film.
May 2015 marks Orson Welles’s 100th birthday as The Road to Cinema Podcast talks with producer Filip Jan Ryszma about his IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign for Orson Welles’s last film “The Other Side of the Wind” which you can help fund by visiting orsonslastfilm.com “The Other Side of the Wind” is Orson Welles’s yet to be completed final film which started production in 1970, shot on and off for almost 5 years, then unfortunately languished in post-production limbo for more than 3 decades after Welles’s death in 1985. The complications that have kept the film’s negative in a vault in France under lock and key for decades have finally been untangled. Orson’s last film is ready to be completed and shown to the world through the help of producer Filip Jan Rymsza’s IndieGoGo campaign. Producer Filip Jan Rymsza has assembled the team behind the production of “The Other Side of the Wind” which includes Oscar nominated producer Frank Marshall and actor, filmmaker and Welles’s confidant Peter Bogdanovich. Rymsza has also brought on Emmy nominated editor Affonso Goncalves of the hit HBO series “True Detective” and the Oscar nominated films “Winter’s Bone” and “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” Rymsza’s dedicated team of collaborators will go through Welles’s many screenplay drafts as well as extensive personal notes to ensure that the film lives up to Welles’s point of view and standard for cinematic quality.
