In 2006, Heller approached director Bennett Miller with an envelope of newspaper articles on the Schultz/du Pont case during a promotional event for Miller’s film “The Cruise.” Heller’s initiative sparked interest in the story from the Oscar nominated director who would spend the next many years developing the film.
A conversation with producer Michael Coleman of the Oscar nominated film “Foxcatcher.” We’ll discuss Michael’s first initiative to develop the film over 12 years ago through optioning the life rights of wrestler Mark Schultz and eventually teaming with producer Tom Heller. Foxcatcher earned 5 Oscar nominations including Best Actor Steve Carell, Best Supporting Actor Mark Ruffalo, Best Director Bennett Miller, Best Original Screenplay E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman, and Best Make-Up Bill Corso and Dennis Liddiard.
