A conversation with filmmaker Antonia Bogdanovich about the legacy of her mother Polly Platt, production designer, screenwriter, and producer. We discuss how Polly Platt produced the first films of directors Cameron Crowe (“Say Anything…”) and Wes Anderson (“Bottle Rocket”) as well as discovering such talents as filmmaker J.J. Abrams and “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening.
Producer Polly Platt saw the short film “Bottle Rocket” which inspired the feature film written by Wes Anderson & Owen Wilson and directed by Wes Anderson. Platt and James L. Brooks would develop the feature screenplay over the course of many years with Anderson and Wilson.
We learn about producer Polly Platt’s essential advice to first time director Cameron Crowe on “Say Anything…” as well as Platt’s unique style as both a producer and mentor.
We’ll also discuss Antonia’s work as a director and screenwriter on her debut feature film “Phantom Halo.” Also, her work as a producer on “The Phenom” starring Paul Giamatti and Ethan Hawke, directed by Noah Buschel.
