As an editor, Anne Goursaud has worked with directors Francis Coppola, Bruce Beresford, and Jack Nicholson but she has also become an accomplished director in her own right.
Her latest work is the documentary “A Classy Broad” chronicling the career of the first female vice president of production at a major Hollywood movie studio Marcia Nasatir.
As the vice president of production at United Artists in the 1970s, Marcia Nasatir championed such films as “Coming Home” Directed by Hal Ashby with Jon Voight, Jane Fonda, and Bruce Dern as well as, the classic Sylvester Stallone breakout boxing hit “Rocky”, and the Stephen King horror classic “Carrie” Directed by Brian De Palma. When every studio in town turned down Lawrence Kasdan’s college reunion dramedy “The Big Chill”, Marcia Nasatir went from studio exec to producer and helped launch the film into production and eventual box office and critical success. She paved the way for several other female studio production chiefs and producers such as; Sherry Lansing (Paramount, 20th Century Fox) Stacey Snider (Dreamworks, Universal), Amy Pascal (Sony), Kathleen Kennedy (Amblin, Kennedy/Marshall Company, LucasFilm) and the late Laura Ziskin (producer of the Spider-Man franchise).
